Almost every ex-fashion person I know has been through this, myself included. Being in the industry was so much part of who I was, that it took me a long time to let it go once life took me in another direction. It's still hard sometimes. Very deeply felt all your words!

Thank you—it’s comforting to know others have felt the same. Fashion seems to have this way of staying with you, even when you try to step away. I think it just becomes a part of who we are, no matter where life takes us. I’d really love to hear more about your experience and how you’ve navigated that transition!

You are 100% right. Mine was a slow transition - 1 day a week design freelance and illustrating on the side. Then trying to sell the illustrations... ended up printing them on cards... then prints on cards and 6 years later here I am with a stationery brand. It's not what I set out to do, but I use everything I learned every day because I choose to keep it part of what I do. I think fashion informing things that aren't fashion actually makes those things unique in their industry. It keeps me connected, and there's so many interesting and innovative things people are doing in fashion that I want to apply to what I do. So, not specifically in fashion, but very much connected and channeling it into other things. I've got two retail stores now, so who knows, I could end up back in it somehow - open to wherever it takes me!

I love this. I think when you're so dedicated to your career and it can become your personality trait so when you get burnout from it, you question who you are.

Thank you for your kind words 💛 I’ve been learning so much about myself lately—zooming out and seeing myself as a whole person, beyond just my career, is something I didn’t often get to do when I was so busy with work. I’m really grateful for this time to focus on myself, honor the old me, and discover the new me :)
